The 4s curriculum reflects that each child is an individual with unique skill sets. The days are based on inquiry, exploration and hands on experience. Building positive relationships within a community of learners is a critical component of the developmentally appropriate program. The thematic based curriculum includes year-long projects which focus on language, literacy, math, science, social studies, music and art. “Handwriting Without Tears” is a program incorporated into the curriculum to enhance the pre-readiness skills surrounding writing, literacy and math. The learning centers in the classroom provide a forum for making connections across all disciplines while promoting self-regulation, self-motivation and exploration. The open ended play both inside and outside continually reinforces this. Children are exposed to whole group cooperative work, small groups, and individual instruction each day.
